How MoonXCosmetics Made $1.18 Million Dollars in 9 Minutes Selling Vegan Beauty Products

One point eighteen million dollars in 9 minutes. Let that sink in for a moment…

For many of us, the mere thought of earning $1,000,000 dollars could only come from winning the lottery or perhaps earning an inheritance.

However, for 20-year-old Mariee Revere – CEO of MoonXCosmetics, neither of these situations was the case. On May 1, 2020, she posted a video on Instagram and wrote:

“1 million is 8 minutes! thank you god and thank you to god and everyone! THANK YOU! IM CLOSING THE SITE SOON, we’ve reached full mass!”

She had made…wait for it…approximately $1.18 million dollars that day on her shopify store, MoonXCosmetics (shopmoonxcosmetics.com), by selling vegan body and skin beauty products, in just a mere 9 minutes. Something many entrepreneurs work years, tirelessly, trying to earn.

Don’t get me wrong, Mariee did not just wake up and make a million dollars, just like that. It took her a little over 3 years of hard work, passion, and motivation to accomplish this goal. Still, a very impressive feat by a 20-year-old.

In this day of technology, many people (young and old) now have a solid understanding of what it means to be self-made and are choosing not to settle for the 9-5 that our parents have dawned on us as the way to live for 30, 40 and sometimes 50 years or more. Entrepreneurs like Mariee Revere are born everyday and her testimony is another indication that anyone, even you, can achieve your ultimate dream if you strive for it day in and day out.

Here are 5 key points Marie Revere from MoonXCosmetics used to build a beauty empire that made $1.18 million dollars in 9 minutes and how you can implement some of her strategies in your business today!

Key Point #1: Have A Product That Actually Solves a Problem for Yourself and Many!

Mariee’s main product came from something she knew and was struggling with herself – acne. As a teenager, and like many teenagers, she had acne that was induced by stress and allergies.

During her struggle, Mariee tried many dermatology recommended skin products but none of them seemed to work as they all irritated or burned her skin. Why? It was because the products she tried were not suitable for all skin types. As an African America and a vegan, Mariee needed something that was natural and specific to her genetic make-up.

She searched far and wide and found nothing. Then she decided to do what every entrepreneur would do when they can’t find something on the market – make her own. She created a vegan, all natural skin care product that was delicate, not only her skin type, but for all skin types – and this was key to her success.

The first product she made and used for herself was Rose Galore. This product, according to her website, is homemade using natural oils such as Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Organic Rosehip Oil, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil Solar Power, and Love & Dried Roses. It is a multi-purpose oil used for skin inflammations, eczema, hyperpigmentation, hydration, blackheads, white heads, uneven skin tone, darken areas, and rosacea.

Upon using Rose Galore for her skin, Mariee noticed that her skin was clearing up without the irritation she would experience using other commercial skin care products.

The product worked so well for her and others that it sold itself and was backed with positive testimonial. It was at this moment, MoonXCosmetics, was born.

Key Point #2: Carve Your Niche and Let Your Product Speak to Them

When there is no need or want for a specific product in the market, many entrepreneurs have to go through hoops and lengths to explain and convince others how a product works in order to make a sale. As a result, they end up having to create or force a need or want for that specific product.

This takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the seller and unless it is a revolutionary or innovative product (such as a phone, computer, or things alike), the product typically fails due to a lack of interest from people.

This was not the case for Mariee’s MoonXCosmetic products. Her product was much needed by many teenagers and young adults who were struggling with acne and looking for a solution.

For many teenagers, finding a solution for their acne could take years. So, to find one that actually works, with little to no side effects, and is vegan, is like a dream come true. On top of that, with a price range from $18 - $83 USD, the products were reasonably priced in comparison to the other skin care products on the market.  It was the whole package in one and with high demand, the product sold on its own.

In fact, it sold so well that Mariee did not have to create an extraordinary website or have an over the top social media presence in order to make sales. She said so herself on her Youtube vlog:

“Honestly for me people don’t even care about posts like that, they just want to see the results"

And this was key to growing a successful business. When there is already a demand for a product, those who want/need that product only care to see the results of that product to solve their problem – nothing more and nothing less.

Key Point #3: Do Not Underestimate the Power of the Law of Attraction

You may have heard the saying, “Speak it into existence” or you have read the famous book, “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. If so, you may be familiar with the theory of the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction is a simple concept – speak into the universe, a truth that you may not currently be experiencing, constantly visualize and feel all the emotions associated with that truth and eventually, the universe will work in your favor to acquire such truth.

For examples, I can speak the truth that I will make $100,000 by the end of 2020. With constant visualization, feeling, and hard work, eventually, the universe will align that truth into my life and will allow me to achieve it. The key here is that you have to feel and be passionate about that truth. Simply stating it and going about your daily life will not make that truth happen.

Mariee understood this very well and used it to her advantage. In her Youtube vlogs, she spoke 3 truths that later came to fruition. Here first truth was to buy a Jeep Wranger (an SUV she always wanted). The second truth was to buy a bigger warehouse that would meet the demands of her business.  And her third truth was to become a millionaire in 2020.

Her first truth came to life on Oct 2019 when she posted this on her Instagram, with a picture of herself and her Jeep:

"beyond blessed to be able to say i did this! nothing but god!!! a hugeee thank you to @mr.ricardo_hill for the best service in the world ! and my bestfriend , my grandma for helping me + my family, friends and customers for supporting me enough to here! only up from here 💗💗 | no payments soooo blessed 💗"

Her second truth come to fruition April 1st, 2020 when she posted this on her Instagram, with a picture of herself and her Jeep in front of her newly purchased warehouse:

“thank you all sooo much for your support! new warehouse is finally secured 💖 without you all none of this is possible. thank you all! Only up from here! thank you for allowing me to grow with you 💖”

Mariee’s third truth of becoming a millionaire in 2020 come into existence when she made $1.8 million dollars in just 9 minutes and posted this on her Instagram:

“1 million is 8 minutes! thank you god and thank you to god and everyone! THANK YOU! IM CLOSING THE SITE SOON, we’ve reached full mass!”

These three things come true not because she simply said them. Heck, if that was the case, I (and many others) would be millionaires by now as well.

Mariee took her truth a step further by believing, feeling and visualizing them as if they had already happened. She made the law of attraction a part of her business strategy to achieve her goals and dreams.

Key Point #4: - Differentiate Yourself from Your Competition

In a world where some of the top business categories are extremely saturated and highly competitive, many still find ways to succeed.

This is possible in a number of ways. 1) the product you are introducing to the market is clearly unique and stands out from your competitor’s products; 2) maybe you have the same quality product as everyone else, but it is priced in a way that your consumer are willing to buy; 3) you have carved out a very narrow but profitable niche that allows you to sell similar products as your competitors; and lastly, if none of the above apply, you work tirelessly to sell your product to your audience regardless of the competition in the market.

MoonXCosmetics chose to differentiate in order to thrive in the billion dollar highly competitive beauty care market. How? While some of the top skin care companies are using unnatural skin care products with ingredients and chemicals you cannot even pronounce, MoonXCosmetics chose to use natural ingredients, readily found in nature with little to no manipulation in order to create a natural, vegan, skin care product that everyone will love.

By doing this, not only did they separate themselves from the competition but they also were able to target and serve a very profitable niche.

Key Point #5: You Can Never Go Wrong with Social Media Influencers

Social media influencers are now a must have when it comes to scaling your business and reaching your target audience in a very short amount of time.

For those that don’t know, social media influencers are individuals on a social media platform (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, or Snapchat) who have a large following of a very specific audience. What makes them unique is that most of them have a very faithful following and as a result, social media influencers are able to persuade a large number of people to do almost anything; in this case, to make a purchase.

MoonXCosmetics was making sales prior to having social media influencers but after they partnered with an influencer, their brand blew up exponentially.

In one of her Youtube vlogs, Mariee mentions:

“Since September [2019], my first celebrity promotion with Jayda Cheaves, she’s the one that blew my brand up a lot, and ever since then, it’s just been taking off...”

Jayda Cheaves is the ex-girlfriend of the famous rapper Lil Baby. She is a young entrepreneur herself with a successful online company, AmourJayda Hair and an Instagram following of 3.2 million individuals. It is of no surprise that when she started sharing posts of herself using MoonXCosmetics’ products, that the brand would take off.

Jayda’s core following includes teenagers, and young adults, who may be struggling with skin problems and are looking for the right solution. With Jayda’s influence, MoonXCosmetics was able to grow exponentially with only a few posts from Jayda. Shortly after, other influencers such as Ariana Fletcher (3.3 million teenage to young adult Instagram  followers) were seen using MoonXCosmetics products, which also contributed to their success.

MoonXCosmetics proved that in this day and age, including social media influencers as a marketing strategy can go a long way to reaching your core audience and scaling your business in short amount of time.

  • I had the absolute worst customer service experience with this brand. I expressed some concerns regarding the turn around times, I committed to them when I ordered. Amongst the many positive comments I have left none of those were addressed. However I made it a point to say I understand the customers frustration as well, and that should always be understood as a business owner. Upon addressing these concerns the CEO Marie I believe her name is, laughed at my concerns, refunded me after waiting almost 2 weeks for my products, blocked me on all social media as if I had said anything that directly offended her, being able to take negative criticism is a part of growing in the business world. I said nothing to offend her or her brand and why would I? If I ordered from them, she then proceeded to go on a rant via Twitter about her customers who were unhappy. I called because she logged in my order was cancelled upon my request however it wasn’t . The CEO is rude to say the least and really has to learn how to deal with high demand and attention her business is now receiving. Also utilize conflict resolution skills without social media.
